I am launching a magazine in the spirit of DialoGZ: LABIAL, published by Éditions L. LABIAL is a magazine for creation and experimentation at the meeting point of literature, art, and artificial intelligences. It invites writers, artists, and researchers to propose texts and hybrid forms: poems, stories, essays, dialogues, images, scores, fragments of code, protocols, or compositions that bring several languages together.
Its name evokes the lips: the passage from breath to speech, the articulation of language, the contact between a body and what it says. Alongside this physical presence are machines now capable of producing sentences, images, and code. LABIAL wants to explore this proximity, the disturbances it causes, and the possibilities it opens up.
What becomes of writing when it is built with a system that calculates the probable continuation of our words? How does a singular voice take shape amid borrowed languages, data, and models? What relationships can we invent between human intention, automatic generation, chance, and the work of composition?
The magazine welcomes these questions through the works themselves. A program may be read as a poem; a conversation may become narrative material; an image may extend into the instructions used to make it. Each contribution can invent its own way of inhabiting the page.
Artificial intelligences may take part as tools, interlocutors, materials, or objects of criticism. Using them is not a condition of participation; a text may instead examine the changes they bring, including their most radical critiques. Approaches may be sensitive, conceptual, political, playful, or disorienting. LABIAL also welcomes experiments in which hesitation, accidents, and changes of direction become part of the form.
Published as a PDF on the Éditions L website, LABIAL may also be printed on demand from a selection of articles chosen by each reader.
Call for contributions
For the launch of the magazine, we invite texts that speak to this editorial direction. All forms of composition are welcome. Please lay out your work in A5 and send a PDF of no more than five pages (maximum 10 MB). If selected, your document will be published without alteration.
The deadline for the zero issue is 16 October 2026. You will receive an acceptance or refusal in the days after submitting. To send your PDF, visit labial.fr and open the “Appel à participation” form.
LABIAL’s zero issue will be presented on 24 October 2026 during a roundtable at the BIASEL festival in Paris.
